We
Believe:
That
all people have sinned against a Holy God.
"All have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Every person
who has ever lived, with the exception of
Jesus Christ, has missed the mark of God's
perfect holiness and therefore has sinned
against God. "The soul who sins shall
die." (Ezekiel 18:4)
That
those who sin against a Holy God have a penalty
that must be paid.
"The wages of sin is death, but the gift
of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Sin has separated
us from our Creator. There is a price to pay
for rebelling against a Holy God and no amount
of human effort will ever put us back in right
standing with God. The good news is that God
has given mankind the gift of His Son, Jesus,
who willing paid the price required by God.
All those who accept this free gift will no
longer be separated from God, but will instead
be granted everlasting life. This is a gift.
That
God loves us in spite of our sin.
"God is love." (1 John 4:8) Even
though we are sinners, God loves us and desires
to reveal His love for us through a personal
relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ.
That
God demonstrated His love for us by sending
His Son, Jesus, to pay our sin debt.
"For God so loved the world, that He
gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes
in Him should not perish, but have eternal
life." (John 3:16) Jesus is the infinite
God-man; God in the flesh. Jesus died on the
cross and paid our penalty for sin and He
rose from the dead in power to give those
who believe in Him the gift of everlasting
life. “But God demonstrates His own
love towards us, in that while we were still
sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans
5:8)
That
freedom from the penalty of sin can only be
obtained by placing one’s faith in Christ
Jesus.
This type of faith is not merely intellectual
assent. It is trusting in Jesus Christ alone.
Believing that He is the only one Who can
save a person from the penalty of sin, and
that without Him we are dead in our sin. "What
must I do to be saved? Believe on the Lord
Jesus Christ, and you will be saved."
(Acts 16:30b, 31) God’s word says, "Whosoever
shall call upon the name of the Lord shall
be saved." You can do that now by simply
praying:
Lord
Jesus, I know I am a sinner and do not deserve
eternal life. But I believe You died and rose
from the grave to purchase a place in heaven
for me. Jesus, come into my life, take control
of my life, forgive my sins, and save me.
I am now placing my trust in You alone for
my salvation, and I accept your free gift
of eternal life.
If this prayer is
the sincere desire of your heart, look at
the promise of Jesus: "Most assuredly,
I say to you, he who believes in Me has eternal
life." (John 6:47)
